The Gaming Society
Co-Founder, Gaming Society
Jaymee Messler is an entrepreneur and sports business executive with extensive background in the sports and media industries.
Messler is the co-founder of Gaming Society, a new gamification and content company committed to making sports betting easy, inclusive, and accessible to all fans. Alongside her co-founder, NBA Hall-of-Famer Kevin Garnett, Messler spearheads overall strategy and operations with the goal of breaking down barriers and diversifying the sports betting industry by targeting loyal underserved audiences, prioritizing betting education and creating diverse fan experiences. Under Messler’s stewardship, Gaming Society launched the Bet on Women initiative, a partnership with the WNBPA which aims to propel women’s sports forward through the growth of the betting industry.
Prior to Gaming Society, Messler was the visionary behind The Players' Tribune, a first-of-its-kind content platform that was developed to connect athletes with fans through the power of storytelling. She co-founded The Players’ Tribune with MLB icon Derek Jeter in 2014, and disrupted sports media by focusing on athlete-first storytelling that transcended the field of play. By giving athletes the tools to create truly personal content and tell their stories, The Players’ Tribune reimagined the world of sports and culture through the player’s point of view. While at The Players’ Tribune, she also developed and sold a 10-part series of sports documentary films to Netflix. The wildly popular show features unique and lesser-known sports stories.
Before The Players’ Tribune, Messler was the CMO of Excel Sports Management, where she developed an industry-leading benchmark formula for player marketing that included client services, public relations, cause- related programs and community outreach, social media and digital programming, branded content and corporate partnerships. At Excel, she engineered partnerships and oversaw marketing for high-profile NBA and MLB clients including Jeter, Paul Pierce, Blake Griffin, Kevin Love and Clayton Kershaw. Additionally, she took the helm of all branding and corporate communications on behalf of the agency, created Excel’s corporate digital strategy as well as oversaw the digital and social media strategies for the agency’s individual clients.
In 2016, Messler was recognized on Variety’s New York Power of Women Impact List, AdWeek's 30 Most Powerful Women in Sports, AdAdge's Women to Watch and was named a Top Woman in Digital by Cynopsis Media. She received a Media Award by NYU Tisch Institute and the NYU Sports Business Society and was also named a ‘Gamechanger’ by Sports Business Journal in 2015.
Messler holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park and resides in Los Angeles, CA.
