Paralympic gold medalist
Alana Nichols is a world-class athlete with a passion for challenging herself and others. From a young age, her passion for sports and adventure has driven her and no matter what obstacle life throws her way, she takes a challenge head on. After suffering a spinal chord injury at age 17 while attempting a back flip on her snowboard, Alana recovered and quickly transitioned to adaptive sports. She is the first American female to win gold medals at both Summer (Wheelchair Basketball) and Winter (Alpine Ski Racing) Olympic/Paralympic Games. After competing in her third sport of sprint kayak at the 2016 Rio De Janeiro Paralympic Games, Alana is taking on a new athletic challenge of Adaptive Surfing and will continue to inspire and attract fans around the world with hopes of the sports inclusion in the summer games in 2024. Alana is passionate about encouraging young girls and women to reach their fullest potential in sport and in life and often speaks publicly for organizations that support that passion.
