Kate Johnson is Vice President and Head of Global Sponsorship Marketing at Visa. In her role, she oversees the global portfolio of sponsorships for Visa, including the company’s 30-year partnership with the IOC, FIFA and the NFL. Sponsorships have been a key pillar of Visa’s marketing strategy for many years. Through these properties and platforms, Visa has been able to offer unique value to clients, while building a stronger brand and driving business growth globally. Visa’s sponsorship portfolio includes properties from around the world that are procured for a variety of purposes including (but not limited to): Brand Building, Client Pass-Through/General Activation, Client Co-Sponsorships, and Consumer Product Benefits, allowing Visa to tell a story that the business, brand and consumer can connect to in meaningful ways.
Prior to joining Visa, Kate served as a Senior Director within WME IMG’s Global Consulting Group. During Kate’s tenure at IMG she was based in London, Toronto and New York City where she managed a portfolio of clients, building strategic global marketing programs and sponsorship activations for global properties including Wimbledon, World Golf Championships, the US & British Open, and the Beijing, Vancouver, London and Sochi Olympics.
Kate competed at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece where she and her teammates won a silver medal in the Women’s 8+. She is a 2002 World Champion and former world record holder. Kate is a graduate of the University of Michigan, a 3-time All American, 2-time Academic All-American, and the 2001 Big Ten Athlete of the Year.
